With Lexingtonians heading to the grocery stores to stock up on essentials, they are not leaving enough for those that need it the most. To help with this, some grocery stores are dedicating certain times during the day to senior shopping only.
Senior only shopping at Aldi every Tuesday and Thursday from 8:30 am until 9:30 am.
Senior shopping at Big Lots everyday from 9 am until 10 am.
Costco is dedicating an hour for seniors only every Tuesday and Thursday from 8 am until 9 am.
Dollar General is dedicating their first operating hour (8 am until 9 am) each day to senior shopping.
Seniors and those at higher risk will have priority shopping at The Fresh Market between 8 am until 9 am Monday through Friday.
Good Foods Co-Op has special hours for those 60 and older. Those that are in this age range can shop from 8 am until 9 am.
Kroger is dedicating their first hour of operation (7 am to 8 am) on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays to seniors over 60 and other higher-risk customers.
Sam’s Club offers senior only shopping every Tuesday and Thursday from 8 am until 9 am. During special shopping hours, these members can utilize Sam’s Club concierge service. From a designated parking location, members in need can place their order from their car, a Sam’s Club associate will grab the items on the list, and the member will use Scan & Go to check out.
During 8 am and 8:45 am, seniors will be able to shop at Save-A-Lot before it is opened to the general public.
For those who love Target, they are dedicating their first hour of operation to senior shopping (8 am until 9 am).
Total Wine in Hamburg and Lexington Green mall is offering senior hours on Mondays & Wednesdays from 8 am until 9 am.
Beginning Monday, March 23, Trader Joe’s will offer senior shopping for the first hour of daily shopping to senior customers from 9 am to 10 am.
Walgreens senior hour is on Tuesdays and from 8 am to 9 am.
From March 24 through April 28, Walmart stores will host an hour-long senior shopping event every Tuesday for customers aged 60 and older. This will start one hour before the store opens (6 am until 7 am). Pharmacies and Vision Centers will also be open during this time.
Beginning March 18, all Whole Foods will service customers 60 years of age and older at 7 am, one hour before they open to the public. In addition, they will close at 6 pm (two hours earlier than normal hours) to give Team Members more time to restock shelves, sanitize the store, and rest in preparation for the next day.
